About Us

Corbin Presbyterian Church (CPC) has long been a part of the Corbin/Tri-County community. Chartered in 1892, CPC is one of more than 70 churches in central and eastern Kentucky comprising the Presbytery of Transylvania of the Presbyterian Church USA.

In addition to the leadership provided by the pastor and our other professional staff , CPC is led by the elected Board of Elders and Board of Trustees.

As a spiritual community, we believe:

  • We are called to be a community of faith, entrusting ourselves to God alone, even at the risk of losing our life.
  • We are called to be a community of hope, rejoicing in the sure and certain knowledge that, in Christ, God is making a new creation.
  • We are called to be a community of love, where sin is forgiven, reconciliation is accomplished, and the dividing walls of hostility are torn down.
  • We are called to be a community of witness, pointing beyond ourselves through what we say and what we do to the good news of God’s transforming grace in Jesus Christ, its Lord.

We are not a congregation that calls on each member to know all the mysteries of the faith, but one that calls on each member to grow in knowledge and service to the Lord. We believe our community is strengthened by each individual who shares in our worship and work, child or adult.

This prayer which appears on the front of our worship bulletin most Sundays summarizes how we strive to receive our guests:

“God, make the door of this place of worship wide enough
to receive all who need human love, friendship and the Father’s care;
narrow enough to shut out all pride, envy and hatred;
and smooth enough for the feet of little children.”
